Jo Pert

Jo Pert

The man accused of killing former Whanganui woman Jo Pert is facing a further 12 charges relating to other victims and potential victims in the hours before and after Ms Pert's death.

Suppression of the charges against Tevita Mafi Filo, 24, was yesterday lifted in the High Court at Auckland by Justice Lang.

Filo has been in police custody since January 7 following the death of Ms Pert that same day.

Mother-of-two Ms Pert was killed in Shore Rd, Auckland, as she went for a morning jog. Filo is charged with her murder.

Ms Pert is the daughter of Whanganui couple Kevin and Janice Pert. The family still live in Castlecliff. Her funeral was held at Raetihi.

It was revealed yesterday that Filo also faces 12 other charges for crimes alleged to have occurred in the hours before and after Ms Pert's death.

The names of the complainants and the details of those charges have been suppressed.

However, it can be reported that Filo has been charged with three counts of burglary, two counts of indecent assault, five counts of unlawfully being on property, possession of an offensive weapon and being found in a public place preparing to commit an offence.

Justice Lang remanded Filo in custody until another hearing on August 25.
