Another milestone in the reinstatement of a section of SH4 in Whanganui's Anzac Pde this week with anchors being installed at the City Bridge end of the site.
Part of the Whanganui riverbank dropped away in June and July 2015, during and after Whanganui's biggest recorded flood. NZ Transport Agency is overseeing the repairs which began late last year.
Ross l'Anson, NZTA's regional transport systems manager, said the anchor work was almost complete. The next step would involve installing steel pipes before prefabricated concrete panels are put in place along the riverbank.
"This will allow construction of the adjoining cycleway and footpath and resurfacing of the damaged seal within the works site," l'Anson said.
He said the work was on schedule and due to be finished in June next year.
