Physical Graffiti - the 40th Anniversary 3-CD edition - is yet another labour of love from the man who created Led Zeppelin as the band transitioned from the New Yardbirds in 1968. As lead guitarist and producer of their albums, no-one is better placed to review their career than Jimmy Page.
By the time Page, Robert Plant, John Paul Jones and John Bonham entered the studio to record what was to become Physical Graffiti, they had just finished a frenetic tour of the US.
Recorded in 1975, Physical Graffiti was Led Zep's sixth album.
It was intended to be a double album but the new material was too long, so it was padded out with recordings from earlier sessions.
Physical Graffiti was a huge seller for Led Zeppelin when it was first released, and this new remastered version, with the additional CD of studio warm-ups and alternate takes make this release very appealing.
