Century-old Waverley haberdashery business Dallisons is for sale.
Long-established Waverley store Dallisons is on the market again after changing hands in 2021.
The haberdashery store was founded by Edwin Charles Dallison in 1919 and remained in the family for more than 100 years, through three generations, until its sale in 2021.
The building has stood in Weraroa Rd (State Highway 3) since about 1890 and was home to a drapery before Dallison bought it.
Both the land (810sq m) and building (511sq m floor area) are included in the sale.
The land value is $90,000 and the rateable value $143,000.
She felt good about the decision to sell and hoped it would give her more time to do what she loved.
“I hope somebody buys it who will love it as much as I did.”
Property Brokers real estate agent Richard White said since James took over the business, “the shop has retained its traditional charm, while incorporating her own distinctive style, creating a unique blend of authenticity and modern appeal”.
A building at 74 Weraroa Rd is also for sale. It has a 431sq m floor space and 2120sq m land area.
It is used as carpet and vinyl storage for Dallisons but does not have to be bought in conjunction with the Dallisons store.
There was already good interest in the properties, with Dallisons’ website traffic quadrupling, White said.
“More than just a business, this is a chance to embrace a rewarding lifestyle and carry on the legacy of an establishment that is truly part of Waverley’s character,” White said.
The properties are for sale by tender with a closing date of January 17, unless sold earlier.
