The big announcement to come out of Saturday night's boxing card was that Akiwa Events, organisers of Wanganui's moneyed basketball tournament, HoopNation, would be keeping it in town for 2015.
After teasing the possibility of the five-year-old competition moving to New Plymouth or Auckland, ring announcer Dan Hennessey told the parochial crowd that HoopNation would stay at home.
The announcement ends speculation that HoopNation organisers KJ Allen and Paul Berridge were taking the show elsewhere, as they negotiated with the Wanganui District Council to receive more assistance from the Economic Development Impact Fund.
