Heritage buildings and earthquake strengthening are the focus of a public meeting being organised by Whanganui District Council.
The meeting on Monday, May 28, will provide information about local and central government funding schemes and the council's stance on earthquake-prone buildings, a council spokeswoman said.
Mike Frew, fund manager for the Ministry for Culture and Heritage's Heritage EQUIP Fund, will talk about the funding available for earthquake strengthening.
David Weir, of Miyamoto International NZ, will speak about seismic solutions. Miyamoto International NZ is a specialist in engineering and construction of heritage seismic strengthening.
There will also be an update from the council on building regulations for earthquake-prone buildings, funding available from the Heritage Grants Scheme and "invigorating the CBD".
