Beale Cottage has never looked so smart.
Thanks to the attention of 16 Hamilton Boys' High School students the historic cottage had a garden makeover last week.
The students have been selected to attempt the new NCEA Literacy Standards.
The standards consist of collecting evidence in a portfolio of literacy achievements in speaking and communicating, reading and writing. The boys are currently collecting evidence for writing and over the next 10 weeks, they will be taking part in Habitat for Humanity's Brush with Kindness programme - helping with gardens, doing maintenance work and learning more about the project.
It will be a hugely beneficial experience to them in both developing their personal skills and progressing their NCEA programme.
