After his second 15-week internship with Google, 22-year-old Boris Pfahringer will head to Europe to sink his mind further in the mathematical world.
The recent Waikato University graduate, with a Bachelor of Computing and Mathematical Sciences, secured his second internship with Google, this time in New York, and has been busy getting his head around the enormity of the city.
"For work it has been learning how it all works. I interned in Sydney a year ago and a lot of things have changed in the company in the last year," Boris said.
"[I've been] trying to explore New York City. It is just overwhelmingly huge. I've been trying to experience the night life. There are a couple of other interns here and a couple of nights a week we'll go out and try a new bar or go to a Broadway show, all the cliches."
Though he was not able to let on what his project for the software engineering internship involved, he said the internship was interesting and it had taken him several weeks to get into the swing of things.
