Your eyes are not deceiving you: yes, that is Parnell hotspot 46 & York, and yes, it has had a facelift — albeit a temporary one.
Iconic Marlborough winery Cloudy Bay has taken over the bar and eatery for the next month, transforming the space with natural timbers, greenery and serene, calming nooks to relax in, so guests can escape their hectic city lives for an hour or two. The David Trubridge-designed 'Koura' light fittings you can see in the photo (above) are the same as those used at its cellar door in Blenheim.
The 'Cloudy Bay Sail Away' at 46 & York pop-up, which launches today and runs until November 16, will offer a bespoke four-course seasonal tasting menu and a selection of tapas created by chef Sam Mannering and paired with the winery’s vintages. Think Mahurangi oysters complemented by a glass of Cloudy Bay Pelorus NV, and confit pork belly matched with Cloudy Bay Chardonnay 2014.
Guests can book for the full tasting menu, or pop in to the pop-up for a few tapas or dishes from 46 & York's existing menu and a wine or two by the glass — exclusive Cloudy Bay back vintages are also available.
