The Soba Salad from &Sushi (90 Wellesley St West)
This salad is a great and surprisingly filling lunchtime go-to: I alternate between the charred eggplant and free range chicken breast for when I'm after more protein. The nutty soba noodle base combined with the tangy Japanese salad dressing is seriously addictive and satisfying.

The Super Green Salad from Janken
More than just green shoots, this dish has grilled vegetables, avocado, crispy kale chips and comes with the most delicious sesame sauce to drown everything in. Also, do not leave the premises without acquiring one of the chocolate mousse cakes. They tell me they're gluten, dairy free and vegan so I don't know how they taste so good. Heavenly.

The Midnight Baker (218 Dominion Rd, Mt Eden)
I don't think I can pick just one option from the wholesome menu at The Midnight Baker. Their edamame smash, creamy garlic mushrooms (pictured), and pulled jackfruit are all weekend favourites, and every dish is vegan.

The Tofu and Vege Bowl from Mimosa (460 Lake Rd, Takapuna)
This is the sort of tasty hunger-sating dish capable of converting sceptics to vegan eating. It's also a go-to in our family for a healthy lunch. The tofu is silky, the grilled vegetables and mixed grain rice are filling, and the Japanese barbecue-style sauce ties it together deliciously.  Plus it's served with a cup of piping hot miso soup. Cheers to that.

Soba Noodle Salad from Dear Jervois (234 Jervois Rd, Herne Bay)
Great for when you've not been eating very well and you need something healthy, nourishing and filling. Made with soba noodles, the salad includes mint, ginger, bean sprouts, coriander, carrot, chilli and mesclun tossed in sesame seed dressing.  Add chicken or smoked salmon, and maybe some extra avocado if you're super hungry.
