Even though there's still some bite in the air, we can't wait for spring to roll around. So much so in fact, we've teamed up with Kate Sylvester to share her beautiful Le Ballon Rouge film in celebration of The Red Balloon Spring/Summer 2018/2019 collection. With the opening of its newly renovated Ponsonby store, now taking over what was previously Golden Dawn, it's a fresh way to mark the delivery of this optimistic collection.
The film, debuting at the opening of the new store, was created by New Zealand filmmaker Florian Habicht, and perfectly showcases the whimsy this new season collection conveys.
Inspired by the freedom, hope and happiness of the French short film The Red Balloon (1956) where a balloon with a life of its own follows a little boy around the streets of Paris, Kate has looked to the optimistic spirit behind hot-air balloons and their graphic and often eccentric colour combinations.
