Brilliant new royal portraits just keep coming: The Duchess of Cambridge has posed for her first ever magazine shoot, appearing on the cover and inside the Centenary issue of British Vogue.
The relaxed series of images were photographed in the Norfolk countryside in January by 36-year-old British photographer Josh Olins.
The Duchess flies the flag for British design on the cover, wearing a double-breasted suede coat by Burberry with a vintage hat from well-known vintage store Beyond Retro. In another portrait, the Duchess wears a red and navy striped T-shirt with breast pocket by Petit Bateau, still available to buy at some online stores.
The 10-page shoot will appear in the June issue of the magazine, with two portraits on view at the Vogue 100: A Century of Style exhibition at the National Portrait Gallery in London. The Duchess, a patron of the gallery, will visit the exhibition to view the portraits.
It joins previous historic royal portraits taken for British Vogue, including Princess Diana, Princess Margaret and the Queen.
British Vogue editor Alexandra Shulman said it was a huge honour to feature the Duchess of Cambridge on the cover of such a special issue.
"For me personally it has been a wonderful experience to have had the opportunity to work with her on this, and I am immensely proud of what we have produced. This special issue of the magazine is very close to my heart as it had to reflect on 100 years of British Vogue, and so I am hugely grateful that we have been able to continue with our tradition of outstanding royal portraiture with these pictures.”
A spokesperson for The Duchess of Cambridge said in a release: "Since 1916, Vogue has been a leading champion of British portraiture. The Duchess was delighted to play a part in celebrating the centenary of an institution that has given a platform to some of the most renowned photographers in this country's history.
"She is incredibly grateful to the team at Vogue and at the National Portrait Gallery for asking her to take part. She would like to thank Josh Olins for being such a pleasure to work with. The Duchess had never taken part in a photography shoot like this before. She hopes that people appreciate the portraits with the sense of relaxed fun with which they were taken."
