The Coolest Looks At The Golden Globe Awards 2025

All the best fashion from the red carpet at the Beverly Hilton Hotel.

Many celebrities took event rather literally, with dozens of stars turning up in gold gowns; Mikey Madison, Demi Moore, Ariana Grande.

And as fashion more generally hews conservative, a lot of looks paid homage to old Hollywood - even the usually experimental Zendaya - and most of the eccentric outfits came courtesy of the men. Andrew Scott and Jeremy Strong both turned up in blue suits, while Eddie Redmayne wore a loud, flared number in a windowpane check and Jeff Goldblum had a rather snazzy embellished blazer.

Zoe Kravitz

On a carpet characterised by glitz and ostentation, the understated elegance of Zoe Kravitz’s ensemble was a welcome reprieve. The refined black column dress, with its deep curved neckline and sweeping white bow train, comes from Saint Laurent by Anthony Vaccarello, which tracks given that the Blink Twice director is a muse for the label and its creative director. There’s a Kiwi connection to this stellar ensemble too - Zoe completed her look with adornments from New Zealand-born jeweller Jessica McCormack. - Tyson Beckett, multimedia journalist

Payal Kapadia

Not all nominees wear capes and/or dresses. Payal Kapadia, the first filmmaker from India with a Golden Globe nomination for best director (All We Imagine As Light), subverted the one-piece and ignored the caged shoulder trend (Cate Blanchett, Kaley Cuoco, et al). Her hand woven silk jumpsuit with brocade embellished pockets read all care, no conforming. - Kim Knight, senior writer, premium lifestyle

Colman Domingo

Timothee Chalamet turned up in a saucy little scarf, but he was upstaged by Colman’s opulent accessorising. I suspect this is Valentino (a brand he’s worn a lot of lately) and he’s nominated for a Golden Globe for Sing Sing. - Emma Gleason, deputy editor, lifestyle and entertainment

Naomi Watts

Naomi Watts spent most of the last red carpet year in various shades of Barbie pink. Was she having trouble letting go? Was this Schiaparelli frock a fashion in-joke? Can we at least agree it was a very gorgeous (and, frankly, very clever) metamorphosis? - KK

Felicity Jones

I loved that Felicity Jones chose the Globes as an opportunity to prove you can wear sequins without going full pageant queen. In September, a slightly shorter version of this kooky Prada dress made headlines when it went down the runway paired with a raffia visor and banana yellow raincoat. Felicity pared down the styling, but it was still one of the most striking looks of the night - perhaps in part because it was a rare silver crest in a sea of gold. - TB

Glenn Close

Gorgeously poetic look on the legendary Glenn Close - who was seated next to Harrison Ford inside the venue. The Cut declared this one of the event’s weirdest looks, but I disagree. - EG

Eddie Redmayne

It’s possible the man we have come to know as The Jackal wore all-over checks and a standing collar simply to make the media’s “most interesting” lists. Mission thoroughly accomplished. - KK

Cate Blanchett

Of all the golden frocks, this one was a cut above. It’s Louis Vuitton, and a perfect example of the futuristic-classicism that Nicolas Ghesquiere does so well. And very befitting Hollywood royalty like Cate of course. - EG

Best use of a Bridgerton silhouette since Bridgerton. It’s an archival dress from Hubert de Givenchy’s spring 1966 couture collection. - KK

Elle Fanning

Before spotting (sorry) Elle in this Balmain look, I briefly mistook her sister Dakota for The Great star but reasoned internally that Elle, who usually favours softly romantic styles, wouldn’t wear something as bold as that vivacious red shade. As if to solely prove me wrong Elle soon after stepped onto the red carpet in an animal print ball gown. While still undeniably chic, this was such a fun choice! Thrilled to learn a leopard can change its spots. - TB
