Who? Recent AUT fashion graduate Rose Ackland and just launched swimwear brand Beach Knickers. It started as an idea to keep her busy over summer, with the aim to make fun swimwear that wasn't overly skimpy.
What? So far there are three styles in four fabrics, made from seersucker cotton, which is quick to dry. Rose decided to name the label Beach Knickers as essentially they are togs that look like frilly knickers. "My inspiration came from a pair of vintage navy and white gingham French knickers I own and the movie Lolita, where she wears the best matching outfits. "
Why? "I had been hunting for a new bikini to tan in and nothing seemed to tick the boxes — everything I liked was only online and it was hard to trace where they were all made and if they were ethically made," says Rose, who also models her designs.
Where? Beach Knickers sets $65 each. To order, email beachknickers@gmail.com
