After celebrating two decades in business in 2017 and showcasing one of the biggest shows New Zealand Fashion Week has ever held at Spark Arena, Huffer is confirmed to follow up with another highly anticipated show on this year's fashion week schedule presenting its autumn/winter 2019 collection at Auckland's Powerstation.
It’s the 18th consecutive year the brand has shown at fashion week, and this year’s show is set to continue a tradition of celebrating Huffer’s cultural pillars of fashion, art, community and music. Influential Australian musician, producer and photographer Ta Ku will score the show and showcase a collaborative video piece curated especially for the event.
As for the collection itself, expect to see Huffer’s love of 1990s streetwear referenced, with a strong focus on its lucrative outerwear and down category in bold colour palettes.
But what’s particularly special about this year’s show is its partnership with the Mental Health Foundation, a key part of the show’s messaging, shining a light on mental health and suicide prevention with a focus on the youth demographic, a cause close to Huffer founder Steve Dunstan’s heart.
“I’m passionate about our coming efforts and came up with a ‘people presence’ concept this idea of being present and supporting one another,” he says. “This aligns with our values of inclusivity and encouraging real social communities.”
To mark the special collaboration, a limited range of beanies and tote bags will feature in the show and will be available to buy immediately after, with all proceeds going to the foundation.
“We are excited to be aligned with Huffer,” says Shaun Robinson, foundation chief executive. “We hope our beanie will not only keep your head warm, but also keep your soul strong. We want to encourage people to talk about the tough stuff, but those conversations aren’t easy. It’s great to have Huffer help us encourage people to talk about mental health and wellbeing openly and without judgment.”
