Canterbury of New Zealand teams up with photographer Tom Gould and I Am Hope
One of the country's leading brands, Canterbury of New Zealand, has in recent seasons tapped into its rich heritage to truly celebrate Aotearoa now, and its latest campaign, The World’s Toughest Activewear, embraces the innate resilience of New Zealanders.
To showcase that resilience, the brand once again has worked with photographer and visual artist Tom Gould, who has taken portraits featuring people from Te Tairāwhiti/Gisborne region, an area extensively damaged by floods and a cyclone in March this year.
“It’s this positivity and Kiwi resilience I wanted to capture in the new brand creative and gallery exhibition I’ve developed for Canterbury of New Zealand,” says Tom. “I wanted to portray this resilience in a way that shows beauty in the stillness and repetitive nature of everyday life. I have been a long-time fan of the ‘World’s Toughest Activewear’ and it’s been special to share the stories that showcase the true characters of the mighty East Coast of Aotearoa.”
Tom, who has also contributed to Viva over the years has an arresting body of work, exhibiting at MoMA, working with renowned NBA stars and musicians from here and around the globe, and working closely with brands such as Polo Ralph Lauren.
“We’re giving our community the opportunity to vote for and win their favourite image from Tom’s portraits," says AJ Moriarty, head of product and marketing for Canterbury New Zealand.
"Each vote equates to a $1 contribution, up to a total of $10,000 for I Am Hope. Resilience comes from a place of strong mental health, and we admire the work I Am Hope does to help build mental health and resilience with the young people of New Zealand.”
The campaign will be available online and to view at Knowear at 123 Ponsonby Road. Canterburynztwta.com
Workout pioneer and veteran actor Jane Fonda stars in the new H&M Move collection campaign

Advertise with NZME.There are no leg-warmers in this latest collection from the Swedish behemoth's so-called 'move-wear' brand, but they've tapped 80s fitness icon, award-winning actor, activist and former ballerina Jane Fonda to front its latest line of activewear.
H&M's movewear is a collection of stylish and chic workout gear aimed at combining technical and innovative workout clothes accessible to the masses.
Looking amazing at 85, Grace & Frankie's appearance in the campaign is a major coup for the retailer, joining forces with its other campaign star, JaQuel Knight, the choreographer extraordinaire behind Beyonce's Formation and Single Ladies dance routines. As living proof of living a healthy life and moving through the years with a sense of balance, the fitness icon's inclusion in this campaign is a perfect synergy, as the range aims to get everybody moving, whatever their age.
The chic collection features a high-necked sports bra and leggings monogrammed in black and white, along with a pair of great running shorts, which have cycling shorts-style support underneath.
"I’ve spent a lot of my own life getting people to move and was naturally drawn to the mission of H&M Move to get the whole world moving. I also really liked their philosophy of ‘movewear’ over ‘sportswear.’ To me, it’s not about sports or being the most athletic. It’s about giving your body the kind of movement it needs to stay healthy so it can take care of you," she explains.
Doja Cat ditches her eyebrows on Instagram Live
A master of surprises, Doja Cat took to Instagram Live to show off her brand-new buzzcut to her loyal followers. But what happened next was even more surprising the Kiss Me More singer grabbed a razor and a heart-shaped hand mirror and proceeded to shave off her eyebrows.
She explained her bold move by telling her followers: "I just can't believe that it took me this long to be like, 'Shave your fucking head’. I feel like I was never supposed to have hair anyway. I, like, don't like having hair."
While we’re unsure whether we’re brave enough to follow in her footsteps, the remarkable result has been splashed all over her feed with painted-on brows with cute decals in the centre.

Advertise with NZME.Gwyneth Paltrow mistakes Hailey Bieber’s Glazing Fluid for lube
Model and skincare founder Hailey Bieber invited wellness warrior Gwyneth Paltrow to feature in the latest edition of her Who’s In My Bathroom YouTube series, but what followed was not one but two cringe-worthy moments which we’re assuming left Hailey second-guessing her decision.
After making a truly eye-roll-worthy joke about sleeping with Stephen Baldwin (Hailey’s dad), Gwyneth went on to make awkward comments about the new Rhode Peptide Glazing Fluid.
Gwyneth, who famously created a Goop candle said to smell like her vagina, quizzed Hailey about what exactly people were glazing, before saying she thought it sounded like something sexual.
Ever the professional, Hailey lightheartedly brushed off her comment, before clarifying the ingredients of her newly launched skincare product included things like peptides and hyaluronic acid to hydrate and plump your face (not your nether regions). Watch the video here:
