Backstage at Topshop Unique's London Fashion Week show and all eyes - and lenses - are on Cara Delevingne. The superstar British model with the famous bushy brows is the current face of the British brand, fittingly bouncing down the runway to open and close the show of its higher-end Unique collection - with her signature sassy smirk to open and a broad smile, while her mother Pandora cheered as she made her finale bow.
With sporty brights and dance hall sparkle, Topshop creative director Kate Phelan explained before the show that the range looked to the British seaside for inspiration, with a youthful British spirit that Delevingne symbolises right now.
"British style is obviously very unique to us as a brand, and as the Unique collection grows we want to really define that as a girl with a very British sensibility."
And a touch of Brit glamour: Phelan explained that the sheer dresses adorned with Swarovski stones were based around the idea of ballroom dancing. "Because we're all obsessed with Strictly [Come Dancing]."
A selection of pieces from the show are available to buy now at topshop.com, with the full collection in store early next year.
• Topshop will open its first flagship store on Auckland's Queen St in December.
