WHAT WE’RE WATCHING

The StandProbably a little too topical, this new miniseries on Amazon Prime Video is based on a 1978 novel by Stephen King. It's a post-apocalyptic, spooky and pandemic-riddled tale with an all-star cast.  Emma Gleason, commercial editor

Firefly LaneI binged the whole first season of Firefly Lane in a matter of days. The Netflix adaptation is based on the novel of the same name, written by Kristin Hannah. It charts the messy and ever-changing friendship between friends Tully and Kate, who met during their high school years. The story spans multiple decades and parallels major life events in the present day with that of their past. The final episode left so many questions unanswered  I'm already hanging out for the season two to be released.  Ashleigh Cometti, beauty editor

The New York Times Presents: Framing Britney SpearsI will be catching up on The New York Times Presents: Framing Britney Spears, now streaming on Three Now. From what I've read over the years, the wider issues concerning the legal complexities of conservatorships is an interesting one, particularly for someone so well known and who is able to continue working like Britney. How people have failed her  her father, the paparazzi, the music industry  will no doubt make for compelling viewing.  Dan Ahwa, creative director

Sylvie's LoveIt's little wonder that film-maker Eugene Ash's second feature film, Sylvie's Love, streaming on Amazon Prime Video, is described as glossy and romantic: the plot itself, which follows an aspiring film producer who falls in love with a jazz saxaphonist, is verging on cloy, and is compounded by a twinkling setting (1960s New York) and looks inspired by Audrey Hepburn. This film is up next on my list of things to watch, and has been touted as an evocative tribute to Hollywood melodramas without being overcome by pastiche.  Julia Gessler, digital producer

WHAT WE’RE LISTENING TO

The Broken Record podcast with Nas in conversation with Rick RubinThis podcast charts American rapper Nas' career from the release of Illmatic in 1994 to last year's King's Disease, his Grammy award-winning 12th album.  Johanna Thornton, deputy editor

The After Works Drinks podcast by Isabelle Truman and Grace O'Neill I'm a bit late to the party on this one so I've been listening to an episode every chance I get. It's smart, sassy, and hilarious (Grace's laugh gets me every time) and the topics discussed range from pop culture to politics. They're both writers, too, so their quips about filing copy and hitting deadlines make them all the more relatable.  Ashleigh Cometti, beauty editor

Jamaican DJ Sister NancyMy favourite way to start the day. Every day.  Emma Gleason, commercial editor

The Dave Chang Show podcastThis is the podcast from America's culinary darling and the force behind Momofuku's empire. I found watching Dave Chang wax philosophical about food, culture and beyond in Netflix's Ugly Delicious delightfully frank, and his podcast is no different  and no less interesting. You'll hear Chang wrestle with topics like underrated foods, politics, bad movies and how sweet pancakes have got to go, and pursue food authenticity with a few guests (chefs, naturally, but also film directors, professors, and some famous names) and diversions (recipes, #AskDave Q&As) along the way.  Julia Gessler, digital producer
