Dine out this weekend (and every weekend this month)
Auckland's sizzlingly good Restaurant Month is upon us, with a wealth of culinary delights on offer each day as restaurants plate up specially designed menus ranging from $25, $40 and $55+. There's a five-course tasting menu at Sid Sahrawat favourite Cassia, a two-course lunch or dinner at seafood specialists kingi (think antipasti and blue cod with buttered curry, mussels and coriander), and a three-course vegan banquet at top spot Cafe Hanoi, complete with crispy eggplant, lemon-braised tofu, and banana-filled dark chocolate bombe options. Peruse Heartofthecity.co.nz/restaurant-month and book your spot.
Support a good cause
Fashion designer Adrienne Winkelmann's signature tailoring and evening dresses have proved a winning formula for its clientele of high-powered women, from surgeons and lawyers to business leaders and politicians. To make room for a new chapter in its more than 40-year history, its flagship Chancery store in Auckland is undergoing a refurbishment to usher in a new era for the business.
To mark the occasion, for the month of August, donated vintage Winkelmann pieces and sample pieces will be available to purchase from the 12 O'Connell St base. All proceeds from donated items, and 10 per cent of proceeds from sample sale items, will go to the Starship Foundation. Find yourself a stylish treasure and give to a good cause at the same time. The pop-up runs until August 26. Adriennewinkelmann.co.nz
