1. :Dryvrs
This year, Home Alone celebrates its 25th anniversary, and if that makes you feel old, imagine how Macaulay Culkin must feel. We get a small indication of how his most iconic character is coping in the first episode of new web series :Dryvrs. Released last week, the five minute clip stars Culkin as a grown-up, and rather messed up, Kevin McCallister, who moonlights as an Uber driver and takes his anger at being left home alone during the holidays out on an unsuspecting car hijacker.

2. A Christmas Melody
Mariah is back for her traditional Christmas appearance, and this time, so are the Mean Girls. The star is a fan of the hilarious 2004 film, and in her new Hallmark movie - her directorial debut - she stars with Lacey Chabert (Mean Girls' Gretchen Wieners) as a Regina George-esque PTA mum. Be warned, this is not top quality movie-making, but for those who are Mimi or Mean Girls-obsessed, it's worth putting up with the cheese factor.

3. A Very Murray Christmas
Anyone who feels holiday-ready after a screening of Bill Murray's Scrooged should watch the actor's recently-released Netflix Christmas special. So should fans of Michael Cera, Miley Cyrus, George Clooney and Amy Poehler, to name just a few of the stars involved. The hour-long variety show sees Murray playing himself; and when a blizzard forces the cancellation of his holiday musical show, he resorts to entertaining his fellow hotel guests.

4. Joy
In cinemas on Boxing Day, Joy tells the fictionalised story of Joy Mangano, who invented the Miracle Mop, among other home shopping innovations. With it comes the welcome reunion of Jennifer Lawrence, Bradley Cooper and Robert De Niro, who starred together in Silver Linings Playbook. Although not the most obvious Christmas choice, the 2012 film, also directed by David O. Russell, wraps up amid the holiday season, and from the looks of Joy's trailer, the season features heavily throughout this film too.

5. Bridget Jones's Baby
Renee Zellweger, Colin Firth, and hopefully their terrible Christmas attire, will be back next year in Bridget Jones's Baby, which revolves around, you guessed it, Bridget's forthcoming baby. Since we have to wait a while for this one, now is a great time to rewatch the holiday classic Bridget Jones's Diary, which will no doubt make your family celebrations seem ever so slightly more bearable.
