1. The Story of Rama: Indian Miniatures
Want to see some of the oldest artwork in the country, dating back to as early as 1100BC? The Story of Rama: Indian Miniatures from the National Museum, New Delhi, will make the final appearance of its world tour in Auckland from this month. Alongside the paintings the gallery will display artwork from its collection, with pieces dating back to the 11th and 12th centuries.

8. Rembrandt Remastered
Digitally restored versions of Rembrandt's masterpieces are on display at Smith & Caughey's as part of the Rembrandt Remastered exhibition. Displayed full size and in chronological order, the exhibition gives viewers the chance to see the Dutch artist's work as if it had just left his workshop, including The Night Watch, Danae and The Anatomy Lesson of Dr Nicolaes Tulp.

A new exhibition by celebrated New Zealand photographer Russ Flatt focuses on a body of work that re-imagines Flatt's experiences as an adolescent competitive roller skater in the 80s, and alludes to present day discussions around Flatt's identification as a Maori gay man. The series is captured at Skateland in Mt Wellington and examines and amplifies the unique dynamic between subject, camera and audience in his re-imagined world.
