Chanel's new creative designer for makeup and colour, Lucia Pica, based her first collection around the appeal of red as modelled by brand ambassador Kristen Stewart. The Twilight actor showed vamp(ire)ish glam in campaign imagery where deep red lips starred and shades of red also featured around the eyes. Lucia said she was drawn to the emotional extremes that red evoked as the colour of life and death, love and desire, innocence and experience ... Le Rouge Collection No. 1 is on counter now, with a range of reds for lips, nails, eyes and face. Among them is a new dark burgundy shade called Audace, $62, added to Chanel's matte Rouge Allure Velvet lipstick range.

Natalie Portman paints the town red — Paris naturally — in Dior's digital campaign for Rouge Dior. She wears the lipstick, #999 Matte, as she dances in the streets to James Brown's I Feel Good, a track chosen as a testament to the feel-good factor of rocking red lippy.
