Beauty vlogger Shannon Harris - known as Shaaanxo to her 1.3 million-something YouTube subscribers - is a self-made success story. At 17, armed with a $100 camera balanced precariously on her TV and few makeup skills, Harris created her first video for her channel, which clocked up a few views and a couple of subscribers.

Four years later, the YouTube sensation has over 93 million views on her beauty how-to videos and has started her own brush and lash company, xoBeauty. In between posting her popular videos every second day, Palmerston North-based Harris enjoys taking 10 on her weekends. She shares a few of her favourite spots.

Shopping ... I love online shopping! I'm currently lusting over the new necklaces onPagan Marie. Perfect for spicing up any outfit!

Discovering ... I have recently discovered the Bridle Track in Palmerston North.

Its the perfect walking track that's next to the river. It's so peaceful and I love to take a break from work and walk my dogs along there. Walking is one of my favourite things to do to clear my mind and relax!

Trying ... I'm looking forward to my next Auckland trip! I love walking along the streets and exploring small boutiques and shops. There are so many hidden treasures!

Brunching ... Good ol' Coffee Club. Love their eggs bene! The perfect breakfast after a rough night before.

Loving ... Orewa Beach, north of Auckland. Every time I go it is so beautiful and calm. The perfect place to unwind and relax and grab a double scoop of icecream. Everytime I think about that place, it gives me warm fuzzies!

Relaxing ... Walking the dogs, scrolling through Instagram, doing some cardio at the gym. Currently I'm watching Pokemon in bed!

Drinking ... In Palmerston North, I love heading out to The Fish for a cocktail. Its Appletinis are delish! In Auckland, I love heading out to Degree on the waterfront for some good food and cocktails with the girls.

Dining ... Palmerston North's best restaurant has to be Nero. Its pumpkin risotto is what dreams are made of. If I'm visiting in Auckland, and I'm not at Degree, I love grabbing some Thai food from Sawadee in Ponsonby! Its Panang Curry is my guilty pleasure.

Anticipating ...The Vodafone New Zealand Music Awards! It's my first time going - I'm accompanying Smashbox Cosmetics and I'm super excited!

Inspiring ... I try to share a quote a day to my followers on my social media, so here is one for you. Sometimes we get so busy in life that we need to simplify and take time to acknowledge the important things. "Simplicity is about subtracting the obvious and adding the meaningful." - John Maeda
