After working with New York-based hairstylist Serge Normant to create her messy chignon when she wed Prince Harry in May, the Duchess of Sussex has welcomed a new stylist into the fold to create her signature curls.
Meet George Northwood, a 39-year-old celebrity hairstylist who made his name by creating Alexa Chung's highly coveted, choppy 'bedhead bob'.
It doesn't stop at Alexa, either. George also counts Rosie Huntington-Whitely, Alicia Vikander and Kate Winslet amongst his celebrity clientele, and frequently shares styling tips with his 44,000 followers on Instagram.
The British hairstylist accompanied Meghan on her recent two-day tour of Ireland, where the former actress brought her glam squad along to ensure no hair was out of place.
Nicknamed as the ‘King of done-undone’, George first met Meghan during a hair trial in the planning stages of the royal wedding. Meghan was so impressed she asked him to transition her bridal hair look for the couple’s evening reception at Frogmore House.
But before you go rushing to book at George’s eponymous salon in swanky Fitzrovia, London, be warned that a cut and blow dry with the celebrity stylist costs an eye-watering NZD$1,180. You’d be lucky to score an appointment, too, with George sometimes seeing up to 18 clients per day all desperate to have Meghan’s mane man work the same magic on their tresses.

George's best low-key hair advice? "Never, ever brush in the morning," the scissors to the stars told British Vogue in 2017. "It leads to frizz, and secondly there's always an element of mechanical damage. Use your fingers and you'll be able to feel out any tangles."
“If you must brush, do so minimally. If you’re looking for a very sleek finish, run a bristle brush across the hair’s surface once,” he says.
