Welcome to our new column Good Hair, where we talk to stylish people with great hair about their routines, favourite products and more. First up: fashion designer Karen Walker.

Tell me about your current hair look.
I've been super short for a few years now and love it. It's sharp and minimal.

What's the story or inspiration behind it?
Thin White Duke.

Who cuts and colours your hair?
Leigh at Stephen Marr in Ponsonby.

How often do you go to the hairdresser?
Every two to three weeks. Short hair requires frequent visits to the chair, but it's super low maintenance at home.

Are you a hair snob - will you only let one person near your hair?
Definitely.

What's your morning hair routine? How long does it take?
It's a less than five-minute job. At most I have to get rid of the flat bit at the back from the pillow.

You travel a lot - does this affect your hair routine? Do you use any special products when flying?
No. My cut's very travel friendly. Barely even need a hair brush when I fly.

What shampoo and conditioner do you use?
Kevin Murphy.

Any other favourite hair products?
Kevin Murphy Super Goo and Powder Puff or Hair Resort Spray.

We love your Karen Walker hair accessories - the clips and flower headbands. Do you wear any hair accessories yourself?
Yeah, I wear the clips and headbands from time to time.

How often do you change your do?
This has been my look for at least two years and there's no change on the horizon.

Your biggest hair disaster?
Never had one. Work with good people and you'll always be happy.

Who's hair do you wish you had?
I'm happy with my own thanks. I've never had hair envy.
