New Zealand model Holly Rose Emery walks for Valentino haute couture in Rome

She's had a major journey as one of our top modeling stars, so it was a special moment to see three-time Viva cover star Holly Rose Emery return to the haute couture schedule with a major coup  walking for a highly personal presentation of Valentino creative director Pier Paolo Piccioli's haute couture collection for fall 2022 in the eternal city of Rome, taking place along the iconic Spanish Steps/Scalinata della Trinità dei Monti. Taking to her Instagram account to acknowledge the special moment, Holly, who is represented locally by N Model Management, shared how she's grown both physically and mentally in this full-circle moment.

"I can’t seem to find the words to truly articulate how special last night was. Nine years ago I walked my first Valentino couture show in a much different body than I am now, a body not often shown on a couture runway. It was a far-off dream to once again walk for such a special house where there is so much love and consideration put into every detail. Last night that dream was realised. Speaking with Pier Paolo at one of the first fittings, we discussed the importance of the visibility of bodies outside of the standard and what it means for people to be able to see themselves represented. Fashion sometimes feels trivial but I know if 16-year-old Holly could see herself now she’d see that her worst fears can actually be embraced and celebrated."

Wearing a turquoise gown with a feather bolero, the show featured over 100 looks and received a rare standing ovation from Anna Wintour.

North’s waist-length braids in Paris

“North takes Paris” was what Kim Kardashian captioned a series of pictures of her 9-year-old daughter shared to Instagram on Saturday. The stylish pre-teen is shown posing with notable Parisian landmarks including the Louvre and Eiffel Tower, before joining her famous mother in the front row at Jean Paul Gaultier’s Paris Fashion Week show. Donning twisted, waist-length braids and stylised baby hairs, North revealed her cheeky side by holding a makeshift sign emblazoned with the word ‘STOP’ in response to being hounded by the French paparazzi during her sojourn.

@selmablair My @GUIDE BEAUTY tools are a GAME CHANGER. I had to show you the products in action, so here’s a look at the brush set, which I love for applying my GUIDE Shadow Palette and the Kendall x Kylie @Kylie Cosmetics ? original sound - Selma Blair

A new exhibition celebrating African fashion opens at the V&A

If you're in London, be sure to catch the newly opened exhibition Africa Fashion, which just opened last week. The landmark exhibition puts the spotlight firmly on the global impact of African fashion, drawing together over 250 objects from the personal archives of a selection of iconic mid-twentieth century and influential contemporary African fashion creatives, alongside textiles and photographs from the V&A's own extensive collection.

The exhibition includes several contemporary African fashion creatives such as Thebe Magugu and Sindiso Khumalo, alongside a selection of iconic mid-twentieth century African designers including Chris Seydou, Kofi Ansah and Alphadi.

"Our guiding principle is the foregrounding of individual African voices and perspectives," says Dr Christine Checinska, curator of African and African Diaspora Fashion.

"The exhibition will present African fashions as a self-defining art form that reveals the richness and diversity of African histories and cultures. On display until April 2023. Read more about Africa Fashion here.
