There was no winter of discontent to be found in Prospero Place last week, but plenty of happy youngsters enjoying the work of the "snow fairies".
Stratford District Council director of community services, Kate Whareaitu, says the snow fairies brought the snow from the mountain to the town to make sure everyone had a chance to enjoy a winter wonderland.
"Not everyone can head up to see the snow on the mountain, so we brought the snow to them."
While a decent snowfall meant the mountain had plenty of the white stuff to play in, the snow hadn't reached the town itself, so council contractors Inframax delivered the snow to Prospero Place just after noon on Friday.
"The snow lasts a few days, so lots of people had a chance to have some fun, throw a snowball or two and enjoy the snow," says Kate. Prospero Place was chosen as the location because of its central location.
