* Bev's Outlook Express lists a From column instead of a To column in her Sent Items folder. As all the contents of that folder are from her, she finds it irritating.
Change the columns listed, Bev. Open Outlook Express/Sent Items and right click the From column heading. Select Columns, remove the tick from From and place it beside To.
* Carol's iMac complains, "This site certificate has expired" when she tries to enter a secure site. A query to the webmaster of one page returned proof that their cert had not expired. She is confused.
This is a common symptom when your computer clock is set to the wrong year, Carol. Adjust the setting to this year.
* Murray has two mail accounts wanting to use different dial-ups. When he starts Outlook Express, it dials and checks the first account, then spits out a message, "A Dial-up Networking connection is already established to the default ISP". It then asks if he wants to hang up and connect to the alternate dial-up.
Set both accounts to use the same dial-up, Murray. Open Outlook Express and go to Tools/Accounts/Mail. Highlight the account and select Properties/Connection. Place a tick beside "always connect to this account using" and select the connection you require it to use from the drop-down list.
* Mike's Internet Explorer won't show pictures. A strange "radioactive sign" appears on all web pages. He can view the pictures if he right clicks on the sign and selects Show Picture.
Internet Explorer has been set to hide the pictures, Mike. Open Internet Explorer and go to Tools/Internet Options/Advanced. Scroll down to Multimedia and tick Show Pictures.
* Murray asks, "Can Outlook Express send back a message to the sender if the recipient is away - say, on holiday?"
Yes, Murray. Create your message as a new e-mail, but don't send it, save it as an .html or .eml file in My Documents. Then open Outlook Express/Tools/Message Rules/Mail and tick All Messages (at the bottom of the list). Then click Next, tick Reply with Message, click on Message and browse to the file you saved. Click it and select Open/OK/OK.
