Welcome to InBox, where we attempt to answer your internet questions.
Ray Lonergan goes for Boccherini over the Beatles any day: "A while ago you published a list of alternative music sites ... I would be grateful if you could send me a directory for downloading classical music."
Here's one you could try, Ray: http://pmclassical.iicinternet.com - but the widest range is still to be found on Napster.
Deane Butt has been zapped: "I have suddenly got a 'search engine 2000' page that has taken over my ihug home page. I keep getting all these windows opening when I am trying to use the internet, and I can't seem to get rid of it. Can you help?"
It's not an easy one to track down online from the details you supply, Deane. I suggest an e-mail to Steve Gibson of OptOut who is dedicated to fighting this kind of malicious code.
Bill wants to delete some of the superannuated sites from his favourites folder. "My feeble attempts have so far been unsuccessful. Please advise."
In Explorer just open up Windows/Favourites, select any folders or individual websites you no longer need, and hit delete. As web addresses often change, it's a good idea to have an annual spring-clean.
"Could you give a newbie a little advice?" asks Bryan Williams. "If you download any of the screensavers you mentioned the other week, do they normally have to be unzipped? When you save them, what folder/file do you save them to in order to make them accessible?"
Some will arrive zipped, others as single files, but in either case you need to extract them to your Windows System folder, except in the case of complete packages such as Webshots which will automatically install themselves into their own sub-directories.
