Auckland-based software developer CommSoft has signed an agreement to distribute its phone and internet management software in North America.
CommSoft, which largely deals in software to monitor telephone and internet usage, signed the agreement covering its CallMaster and NetMaster services with US-based Sension, a developer of call centre software solutions.
CommSoft managing director Mark Lunt told NZPA the distribution deal would focus on the West Coast of the US.
"This is the first time we've had any representation in the US, we focused very much in terms of the major overseas markets on Australia first and then the UK.
"Obviously you can spread yourself too thinly by trying to attack every market in the world, and just because the US market is massive doesn't mean that it's a logical place for a New Zealand company to go," Mr Lunt said.
"We perceive it as a very cost-effective entry to the market -- they (Sension) have built the distribution infrastructure and they're going to bear the direct selling and marketing costs.
"We're not looking to be the next Microsoft, but if we can get some decent sales in the next six to 12 months we'll be very pleased."
CommSoft's flagship products NetMaster and CallMaster are designed to help companies manage the costs of internet and telephone use respectively, and to monitor their use in the workplace.
The company develops its products in New Zealand.
