Stratford New World's Stratospheres netball team has done it again.
They won the Taranaki New World Staff Netball Championship, for the third year in a row.
This is the fourth year the staff netball competition has been held.
The team from New World Stratford beat Merrilands Mayhem to the trophy, 15-5, at the TSB Hub in Hawera last
Tuesday.
Perhaps it will be third time lucky for the Stratospheres when they once again vie for the supreme lower North Island title against champion teams from Manawatu, Hawke's Bay and Wellington May 23 in Palmerston North.
Six teams played for the Taranaki region's championship - two teams from New World Merrilands, two from New World New Plymouth, one from New World Hawera and one from New World Stratford.
``The staff championships are a great way for staff to celebrate being part of the New World national sponsorship of the Silver Ferns,'' says event organiser Kristie McGregor.
``It might be a fun tournament but everyone is in to win. This is our fourth year of running the tournament and the teams have developed a really strong competitive edge.''
The regional staff championships are team-building events for players and supporters. Mixed teams field seven players on court for two seven-minute halves.
