The Cue Theatre Inglewood proudly presents Entertaining Angels, written by Richard Everett and directed by Nicci Smith.
Entertaining Angels was first performed in 2009 and was described as a "sure-fire hit". It is set in the garden of an English vicarage and centres on Grace, who has spent many years as the vicar's dutiful wife. But since the death of her husband, Grace must face several changes in her life. Her daughter and sister are ready to support her but she can't escape the fact that she must leave her home and garden and hand over the parish to the new vicar.
However, Grace finds compensation for all this in her new-found freedom to do and say whatever she likes, to the astonishment of her family and of her late husband's parishioners.
Grace is played by Christine King who says she feels privileged to have been cast as Grace, and is enjoying the witty script. Grace's sister Ruth is played by Claire Chamberlain, and Grace's daughter Jo by Catherine Jordan. Kevin Koch returns to the Cue stage to play Bardolph, and Poppy Tremain appears in her first New Zealand production as Sarah. The Cue welcomed Nicci Smith as director. Nicci has appeared on stage at the Cue in Leading Ladies and The Cemetery Club. And, of course the action takes place in front of one of Alan Stevenson's wonderful sets.
This is a funny, touching and genuinely thought provoking comedy, says Nicci.
