Chanelle Waite is still scared for her safety after two dogs rushed at her while she was walking on Portia Street on Saturday. The profoundly deaf mother of two had finished work and was walking to meet her husband, Chris, and children at her husband's grandad's house.
"I am glad the boys weren't with me," she says, believing the incident would have been terrifying to a small child.
Chanelle noticed the dogs as she was walking and tried to steer clear of them. She was on the footpath when they ran at her, jumping and "grabbing my work top at the back". Chanelle tried to run from the dogs and yelled for help but, because of her deafness, is unsure of how loudly she was calling.
She is grateful that some people who were nearby came to help and stayed with her while she texted her husband to come for her.
Kieran Best, animal control officer for Stratford District Council, says the two dogs - British bulldog crosses - have been impounded and the owners will be fined.
