"This division is mine, you know. Lightweight division is mine. If this guy want to come to lightweight division, he's got to face me.
"I'm going to be here, I'm going to be improving all the time."
An unfazed McGregor took to Twitter after the fight ended, posting a photo of Ted DiBiase, the "Million Dollar Man".
He captioned the pic: "Selfie", a not-so-subtle reference to UFC chairman and CEO Lorenzo Fertitta's recent prediction that McGregor will be the sport's first $US100 million man.
McGregor's tweet came after number 15 ranked lightweight fighter Nate Diaz also launched a scathing attack on the Irishman during his post-fight talk with Joe Rogan.
"Conor McGregor, you're taking everything I work for, motherf***er. I'm gonna fight your f***ing ass. You know what the real fight - the real money fight - is: Me," Diaz said.
"Not these clowns that you already punked at the press conference. Don't no one want to see that. You know you beat them already. That's an easy fight. You want that real sh*t? Right here."
The American continued his rant in an interview as the night was wrapping up, calling on McGregor to "give the fans what they want".
"I want to fight Conor McGregor. He's talking about coming up to lightweight and he wants the money fight. This is the money fight," he said.
"I'm not like all these other guys begging to fight this dude. He asked for me already, so I've trained hard and I want to get my fight. I want my money fight too.
"If you want to see a money fight, don't lie to the fans, that's what they want to see. They want a real fight. There ain't no characters here man.
"Let's give everybody what they want to see. That's what I want to see. I don't want to see him fight some guy who got punked already at the press conference. You guys are trying to step up and talk now, too late you guys already lost. They lost at the press conference, that was their chance to stand up."
"So that's my case. that's why I took this fight. That's why I'm here and that's my motivation.
"Conor you know what's up. I'm not begging for no fight. You knew, you called me and said let's do this fight, and I'm calling it back. Let's do this then."
Dos Anjos maintained his lightweight title with his fifth consecutive victory in the UFC.
"I'm so happy. I just proved that I am here to stay. I'm here with my belt. It's just the beginning. I have the best team and I am surrounded by great people," Dos Anjos said after the fight.
With speculation that UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor will look to move up to the lightweight division for his next fight, Dos Anjos will likely face the Irishman for his next title defence.
Cerrone was visibly disappointed in his efforts during the bout. The loss broke his record eight-fight winning streak - the longest in the division's history.
"It sucks. I didn't show up to work. Couldn't find my gear. He showed up and I didn't. He did a good job," Cerrone said.
After his fight with American Mike Johnson, Diaz called out McGregor to skip a lightweight title fight and take him on instead.
