Taupo triathlete Bevan Docherty grabbed his first podium placing in the ITU World Cup when he finished third in the ninth round over the demanding terrain in Lausanne, Switzerland, yesterday.
Docherty clocked 1h 54m 09s in finishing ahead of team-mate and world No 3 Craig Watson, who was dropped from the leaders on the run, and had to settle for fifth behind the winner, Reto Hug, of Switzerland.
Docherty is the most improved triathlete on the ITU circuit this year. He started the season outside the top 100, and yesterday's result lifted him provisionally to No 12.
World champion and No 1 Siri Lindley continued her remarkable season with her seventh win on the trot to claim the women's race.
