Playing fourth seed and 320th ranked Lauren Breadmore of Australia in temperatures of over 30C, Jones lost 1-6, 6-3, 7-5 in 2 1/2 hours in the second round of the main draw.
Tracey O'Connor also lost her second-round match, going down to third seed and 300th ranked Casey Dellacqua of Australia 6-1, 6-3.
Meanwhile, at the US$25,000 Challenger at Pelham, Alabama, Leanne Baker has lost her first-round singles match to higher ranked American Ansley Cargill 6-0, 3-6, 6-4.
At the Brisbane US$15,000 men's Futures, Davis Cup player Rubin Statham is into the quarter-finals of the singles after defeating Australian David To 6-4, 6-3.
