KEY POINTS:
New Zealand No 1 Dan King-Turner has won his first and second round matches in both the singles and doubles at a US$10,000 ($12,878) Futures tennis tournament in Kofu, Japan.
He beat Takahiro Inove (Japan) 6-2 6-3 and then cruised past Masato Hatanaka (Japan) 6-1 6-1.
King-Turner will now face another Japanese, Ito Yuichi, in the quarterfinals.
He teamed up with fellow New Zealander GD Jones to score first and second round wins in the doubles.
They beat the tournament's No 1 seed Yaoki Ishii and Hiroki Kondo (Japan) 6-4 6-4 and wildcards Akito Higa and Tomohiro Shinokawa (Japan) 6-2 6-4. The pair will now play in the semifinals against another Japanese combination in Toshiharu Kato and Yuichi Sugita.
