Mark Nielsen had a second-round singles and doubles win at the US$15,000 Futures in Tokyo. Nielsen beat eighth seed Ooh-Hee Kwon, of Korea, 6-4 6-2 and now faces second seed Michihisa Onoda, of Japan, in the quarter- finals.
Nielsen and American Minh Le are the top-seeded doubles and are in the quarter-finals after a 6-3 6-1 win over Japanese pair Tetsuya Chaen and Atsufumi Yoshikawa. They play the fourth seeds from Japan, Go Soeda and Takahiro Terachi.
In France, New Zealand Fed Cup player Shelley Stephens was beaten in the second round of singles by Czech sixth seed Zuzana Ondraskova 6-2 6-2 in the US$75,000 event at Denain.
