The world's top-ranked tennis player has decided it's time she had a home of her own.
Serena Williams, who has been sharing a house in Florida with her No 2-ranked older sister, Venus, has bought a high-rise condo on Los Angeles' west side for US$1.4 million ($2 million).
The two-bedroom condo is located in a complex with security, valet parking, a concierge, fitness centre and pool.
Her new address gives the Wimbledon, French and US Open champion a base for work in the entertainment industry. She has retained an acting coach and appeared as a kindergarten teacher in an October episode of the ABC sitcom My Wife and Kids.
The sisters were raised in Los Angeles before the family moved to Florida in the early 1990s.

"Everything went well and he feels fine right now," said Russian tennis chief and Davis Cup captain Shamil Tarpishchev.
