The semifinals of the US$10,000 ($18,333) Futures tournament at North Harbour is an all-seeded affair.
Top seed Johan Du Randt, of South Africa, downed eighth seed, Jan Minar, of the Czech Republic, in three sets.

In the other half of the draw, South African third seed Dirk Stegmann saw his opponent Mustafa Ghouse, of India, retire hurt with an arm injury in the second set. Stegmann will play Swiss fifth seed Stephane Bohli in the last four after Bohli beat Austrian Martin Slaner in straight sets.
The New Zealand doubles combinations had a win and a loss yesterday.
Alistair Hunt and James Shortall won their way to the semifinals, but GD Jones and Dan Willman lost.
