Seedings went to plan in the first two rounds of men's singles at the Auckland Tennis Champs with higher ranked players aiming at the quarterfinals before they will have to pull out all of their shots to win.
Alistair Hunt breezed past junior Kiril Tcherveniachki for the loss of two games and will face Nick Lane in the third round today.
Hunt is on a collision course with eighth seed, Simon Rea if the draw is true to seeding.
Fourth seed Danny Willman had a huge struggle throughout the first set against the always difficult Rodney Cook.
The 25-year-old Willman, who is trying his hand at professional tennis, was a 7-5 6-3 winner, but will now face an even more troublesome task against Nick Turner in the third round.
Other second round winners were seventh seed Antony Old, who will play Jacob Olsen, while Matthew Simpson also cruised through to the next round with a straight sets win.
Top women's seed Ilke Gers should face fourth seed Rachel Dive or sixth seed Tanja Markovic in her semifinal, while second seed Niki Tippins is looking likely to meet third seed, Tracey O'Conner in her semifinal if all goes to plan.
The women's draw starts today with both the men's and women's finals being played on Tuesday evening.
