New Zealand tennis player Leanne Baker has made the second round of the US$25,000 ($37,701) Tevlin Challenger in Toronto, Canada.
Baker has beaten Australian sixth seed and 229th ranked Monique Adamzcak in the first round today, 6-3 6-3.
As second seeds, Baker and Turkey's Ipek Senglou lost their first round doubles match to American Kit Carson and Frenchwoman Julie Coin 6-4 6-4.
Meanwhile, Kiwi junior Ellen Barry won her match in the first round of the US$25,000 Mt Gambier ITF event in Australia yesterday.
Barry, 17, beat the 287th-ranked Suchanun Viratprasert of Thailand 6-2, 6-4 for a place in the second round where she will play Briton Jane O'Donoghue.
And Kiwi No 1 Dan King-Turner won his first round singles at the US$15,000 Futures in the UK, beating Simon Childs 6-0, 6-2.
