The leading seeds have progressed through to the semifinals in the national senior teams tennis event at Wilding Park in Christchurch today.
In the men's section top seeds Northern and second seeds Wellington finished the round robin ties unbeaten, topping their sections.
Northern, with New Zealand No 1 Mark Nielsen, Peter McGraw and Andrew Turner have a tough match against third seeds Auckland in the semifinals today.
Auckland are headed by ex-Davis Cup player Teo Susjnak, Oliver Statham and Marin Markovich.
Wellington encounter defending champions Canterbury in the other semifinal.
Wellington have a strong team including Matt Prentice and James Shortall, with Eru Lyndon and Damian Connolly rounding out the team.
However Canterbury are without their No 1 in Daniel King-Turner, but do have the vastly experienced Alistair Hunt and Andrew Bate.
In the women's section, top seeds Auckland are up against third seeds Wellington in the first semifinal.
Tracey O'Connor, Kairangi Vano, Rachel Dive and Angela Swinkels front for Auckland, while Wellington has a combination of juniors, Lisa Wilkinson and Makere Bradnam and the experienced Nicola Kaiwai and Jane Legge in their team.
In the other semifinal, second seeds Northern take on Canterbury.
New Zealand's No 1, Shelley Stephens, and Rewa Hudson make Northern a tough team to beat. Niki Tippins leads Canterbury along with Ruth Seeman, Robyn Legge-Hunt and Clare Warner.
