The top four seeds will face off in the Auckland open men's tennis championship this afternoon.
The semifinal field is one of the oldest in years, with all the players aged 24 or over.
Alistair Hunt, at 28, used his serving game to dispatch eighth-seed Simon Rea in straight sets in their quarter-final, 6-4, 6-2, and will come up against fourth-seed Danny Willman.
Willman was down 1-4 in the first set against defending champion Steven Downs.
However, a quick recovery and change of game plan saw the 25-year-old Willman charge the net at all opportunities and he went on to win 6-4, 6-4.
The last time Hunt and Willman met was in the spring tournament earlier this year, when Hunt triumphed in a hard-fought match, 7-6, 6-4.
The depth of the tournament was shown in the third quarter-final as third-seed Robert Cheyne, aged 24, beat 1998 champion Mark Thompson in a slugfest, 6-4, 6-1.
And there was disaster for seventh-seed Antony Old, who broke his left wrist after a bad fall in the third set of his match against Jacob Olsen.
Old will now be out for a large chunk of the summer, whereas Olsen went on to play Davis Cup stalwart James Greenhalgh in the quarter-finals.
He troubled 25-year-old Greenhalgh in the first set, but the second seed raced away to win 6-4, 6-2.
The women's top two seeds, Ilke Gers and Niki Tippins, both eased into the semifinals with victories over Stacey Housley and Anglea Strachan respectively.
Third-seed Tracey O'Connor had to fight her way back from a set down against fifth seed Natasha Watts to set up a clash with Tippins in today's semifinal.
Sixth-seed Tanja Markovic won her quarter-final over Rachel Dive, the fourth seed, 6-4, 6-1 and will now play Gers.
