New Zealand tennis legend Chris Lewis is taking a step into the unknown, with the former Wimbledon finalist leaving New Zealand on Monday to set up base in California.
Lewis and his brother Mark have run Auckland Tennis' coaching programme for the past nine years.
Chris Lewis says it will be a big challenge for him in the States, as he does not have any jobs lined up so he's going in a bit blind, but plans to be heavily involved in coaching, and he knows the area well because his wife is from there.
He says he does not want to get into anything too big too quickly, so will be taking it one step at a time.
Lewis will continue to work with Marina Erakovic, who will use his place as a base when she is playing on the US circuit next year.
