After initial success at the US$10,000 ($18,000) Futures tournament at North Harbour, all four New Zealand players lost in the second round of singles.
Only Robbie Cheyne gave any real hope of a win before going down to seventh-seed Mustafa Ghouse, of India, in a third-set tiebreak.
GD Jones had his game, played outside in hot conditions, dissected by qualifier Martin Slanar of Austria in straight sets, while James Shortall was defeated by fifth-seed Stephane Bohli of Switzerland 6-4, 6-2.
The other Kiwi, Dan Willman, was forced to withdraw in the second set of his match against Jamaican Ryan Russell with an ankle injury.
Willman and Jones teamed up for a first-round doubles win over Canadian Matt Klinger and Russell, while Alistair Hunt and Shortall won their first-round doubles match over Indians Ghouse and Ajay Ramaswami.
