Dan King-Turner has won his way into the quarterfinals of the US$15,000 clay court Futures tennis tournament at Lyneham in Canberra.
King-Turner, the fifth seed, beat British player Simon Childs 6-3 6-0 in the second round to set up a clash with third seeded Australian Rameez Juniad, who is ranked 468, nine places ahead of the New Zealander.
The New Zealand No 1 has had a successful month at Futures tournaments, having reached the semifinals at Wellington, second round in Hamilton, the quarterfinals at Sale in Victoria and the quarterfinals, at least, at Lyneham.
In doubles, King-Turner and Australian partner Sadik Kadir lost their semifinal to Juniad and Vasilis Mazarakis (Greece) 6-7(3) 6-1 3-6.
Meanwhile, at the US$10,000 Futures in Tokyo, Rubin Statham has lost his second round singles to second seed Nix-Yan Yu 2-6 6-7 (6).
In doubles at Tokyo, Adam Thompson and French partner Benoit Bottero lost their doubles quarterfinal to third seeds Kyu-Tai Im and Oh He Kwon 4-6 2-6.
