New Zealand tennis player Dan King-Turner has cleared the first round of the Ramat Hasharon US$10,000 ($14,749) Futures in Israel.
King-Turner beat Israel's Noam Yitzhaki 6-3 6-1 and will now face either a German player or a qualifier in the second round.
He also won his doubles first round teaming with Michail Elgin of Russia to beat Israel's Ron Halabi and Idan Mark 6-2 6-2.
Meanwhile, Hamilton is to host two international tennis events on the ASB Pro-Circuit next year.
The ASB Pro-Circuit is a new series of Futures events to be held from March 6-11.
A men's US$15,000 ($22,123) and women's US$10,000 tournament held at the same time are expected to attract a total of 140 players in search of ATP and WTA ranking points.
Rising New Zealand players such Sacha Jones, Ellen Barry, Kairangi Vano, Shona Lee and Dianne Hollands will play in the women's event, while King-Turner, Adam Thompson, Matt Simpson, Simon Rea as well as top Waikato junior, Sam Gould, are expected for the men's tournament.
