New Zealand Davis Cup player Dan King-Turner has scored another solid win in the US$15,000 ($23,700) Futures tennis tournament at Namangan, Uzbekistan to reach the singles quarterfinals.
He defeated Russian 419th ranked Mikhail Ledovskikh 6-2 6-3 in the second round and now faces the eighth seeded Frenchman Nicolas Tourte who is also ranked in the early 400's.
In doubles, King-Turner and Israeli Dekel Valtzer beat the Chinese pair of Yu Wang and Shao-Xuan Zeng 3-6 7-5 6-4 in the first round, but lost to Indian Sunil Kumar Sipaeya and Russian Dmitri Sitak 7-6, 6-3 in the quarters.
Meanwhile in Gifu, Japan at the US$50,000 ($79,000) womens event, Marina Erakovic, 18, was defeated in the first round by the second seed and 130th ranked Su-Wei Hsieh of Taipei 7-5 6-4.
