Auckland tennis player Sacha Jones is expected to move into the world's top-20 junior girls despite a straight sets loss in the final of the Philippines grade one junior tournament in Manila at the weekend.
Jones, 15, lost 6-2 6-4 to Ukraine's Kristina Antoniychuk.
It continued a good run of form for Jones who made the semifinals of a grade one event in Thailand last week, after becoming the first New Zealand girl to win a grade one event in Malaysia.
The results should boost her ranking from 26 into the top 20.
Her current senior ranking is 746.
In the same tournament, Bay of Plenty 16-year-old Austen Childs reached the doubles semifinals with partner Yannick Thomet of Switzerland.
The pair lost to second seeds Hsin-Han Lee and Hsien-Yin Peng of Taipei 7-5 6-3.
